Trauma Sensitive Yoga Sessions | October 2024
1 October - 31 October
| €45.00Trauma-Sensitive Yoga
Trauma-Sensitive Yoga provides a safe place where you can begin to feel your body and breathe in relation to your trauma. Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) is an effective adjunctive treatment for people with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), complex, or developmental trauma. This technique was developed by David Emerson and Bessel van der Kolk at the Justice Resource Institute (JRI) in Boston, MA.
Sensitive Techniques
In this type of yoga, we invite you to tune into what’s happening in your body during the exercises. You may notice different sensations or feelings. You decide what feels right for you. You’re in charge of how you move and what you do, based on how you feel. It’s about exploring and figuring out what works best for you, without any physical assistance from us.
Body-centered Exploration
Trauma-Sensitive Movement is all about giving you choices and tuning into your body to help with healing. It’s like gently guiding you to reconnect with the here and now, and with yourself. During our sessions, we use inviting language that encourages curiosity. You’ll start noticing how making positive choices and taking action can make a difference over time.

For Professionals
These movement sessions aren’t for yoga teachers or mental health professionals looking to dive into trauma-informed practices. If you’re a professional interested in learning more about this type of movement, check out our professional training with Trauma Sensitive Yoga Nederland. For any questions about these sessions or more information, feel free to write to Esther directly at esther@traumasensitiveyoganederland.com or via a WhatsApp message at +31 (0) 6 11 485057.
Note on Terminology
We often refer to these sessions as “movement” rather than “yoga” because the word “yoga” may not feel comfortable for everyone and might set certain expectations. Our goal is to provide a supportive and inclusive environment that focuses on healing through mindful movement.
